Welcome

Gert's blog 03/04/07

Welcome to the Belle Plaine DFL webblog.

Next meeting: Saturday March 10th at 10:00 am
Belle Plaine library (125 W. Main ST.) in the Rose room.

Our group meets the second Saturday of every month at the same location.

We are in the process of transferring over from having a website to a webblog. Our website was full of great DFL information but was labor intense to keep up and much of the information was redundant and can be found on the state DFL site. I am hoping that the blog will be easier to keep current and also allow many people to voice their opinions/ideas for our group.

Information specifically about the Belle Plaine DFL meetings and upcoming goals for 2007 will be posted here.

For a more comprehensive website for local DFL check out our state Representative David Bly at www.davidbly.com

This is my test posting. We'll need to advertise this blog stuff to all the members. If anyone wants to join and you're not sure who it is, let me know.

We had a meeting Saturday with about ten people attending. We had a speaker that was the father of a soldier in Iraq who wants to run for Congress against Kline.

This was another test run, actually the son is running for Congress. His name is Steve Sarvi and former mayor of Watertown and administrator of Victoria. He's been in the nat'l. guard for 19 years, age 42, married with three kids. He won't be back 'til August as his tour has been extended. He's in civil affairs in Iraq. We also talked about Ray Cox and his activities lately. Finally we talked about having a "welcome wagon" aimed towards people listed as strong Dem's on the Dem. List.

4th year since the start of the War in Iraq. Evidence of no WMD's, no connection to Al Qaida / 9/11, Bush and clan's misdoings and coverups in the news daily. What more proof do people need to know our troops are only there for the war profiteers?

Rally this Sunday March 18th in Uptown Minneapolis at 1:00 PM. Hennepin and Lagoon Avenues. You cannot miss hearing the action as you drive up to the area. Speakers in the park with megaphones. It's very exciting. A walk downtown Minneapolis from the starting point will follow.

If you aren't sure where to park, there is a parking lot next to Lunds grocery store. For the couple hours it takes at the rally it costs under $5 to park.

If this atrocity is to end, people need to be seen and heard! This could be your son, daughter, grandchildren being sent into harms way for someone else's greed.

Peace

We need to use this blog more. The next meeting will be Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 10:00 a. m. at the Belle Plaine library. The agenda is a work plan for 2009 (primarily making contact with DFLer's we met during the elections), election of a state central committee alternate (male) and political reports.
